Evaluation of Cu as an interlayer in Be/F82H diffusion bonds for ITER TBM

چکیده
Copper has been investigated as a potential interlayer material for diffusion bonds between beryllium and Reduced Activation Ferritic/Martensitic (RAFM) steel. Utilizing Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), copper was directly bonded to a RAFM steel, F82H, at 650 C, 700 C, 750 C, 800 C and 850 C, under 103 MPa for 2 h. Interdiffusion across the bonded interface was limited to 1 lm or less, even at the highest HIP’ing temperature. Through mechanical testing it was found that samples HIP’ed at 750 C and above remain bonded up to 211 MPa under tensile loading, at which point ductile failure occurred in the bulk copper. As titanium will be used as a barrier layer to prevent the formation of brittle Be/Cu intermetallics, additional annealing studies were performed on copper samples coated with a titanium thin film to study Ti/Cu interdiffusion characteristics. Samples were heated to temperatures between 650 C and 850 C for 2 h in order to mimic the range of likely HIP temperatures. A correlation was drawn between HIP temperature and diffusion depth for use in determining the minimum Ti film thickness necessary to block diffusion in the Be/F82H joint. 2011 Elsevier B.V. Preliminary Safety Analysis for the Chinese ITER Dual-Functional Lithium-Lead Test Blanket Module
Safety analysis is a part of the ITER Test Blanket Module (TBM) design process to ensure that the TBM does not adversely affect the safety of ITER. To get the license for TBM as a whole with International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), the relevant safety analysis is required for each TBM system proposed by each party. The safety analysis for the Chinese Dual-Functional Lithium-Lead...

In this study, joining of Ni3Al intermetallic compounds using the transient liquid phase (TLP) process with Cu interlayer was investigated. The binding process was carried out in a vacuum furnace at a temperature of 1050 °C for different times of 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. The effect of time variation on microstructure and mechanical properties of the joint zone was investigated. The EDS analy...

This paper deals with the conceptual design of Experimental Helium Cooling Loop (EHCL) for Indian Test Blanket Module (TBM) and its related thermal hydraulic experiments. Indian TBM team is developing Lead Lithium cooled Ceramic Breeder (INLLCB) TBM to be tested in ITER. The TBM box structure is cooled by high pressure (8 MPa) and high temperature (300-500C) helium gas. The first wall of TBM ma...
متن کاملIntroducing hard rock TBMs’ downtime analysis model with reference to past case histories’ data
The study of downtime and subsequently machine utilization in a given project is one of the major requirements of an accurate estimation of TBM performance and daily advance rate. Interestingly, while it is very common to report the components of downtime when discussing a tunneling project in the literature; there has not been a great amount of in-depth studies on this topic in the recent year...
